The Panzer IV Ausf E represented the next evolution in the Panzer IV series with additional armour added to provide further protection, as well as a host of improvements to the overall design.
Primarily used in North Africa and Russia the Panzer IV E was capable of dealing with most threats, but found that the short 75mm gun had trouble overcoming the heavier armour of British Matilda and Soviet KV tanks.
