Parachute Field Artillery Battery (Mid/Late)

The M1A1 75mm Pack Howitzer first saw service during World War Two against the Japanese in 1941-1942 during the campaign in the Philippines. It proved to be an effective weapon and continued to see service during the remainder of the war not only in the Pacific theatre but also Europe and the Mediterranean.

The M1A1 could be broken down into parts for ease of transport or placed on its carriage and towed into action. Useful in mountainous and rough terrain they proved popular with paratrooper units. The M1A1 was later modified to use a pneumatic, rubber-tired carriage and a recoil system to further increase mobility.

In Flames Of War

With each gun being capable of being broken down into six parachute loads, the M1A1 75mm pack howitzers were vital in providing the paratroopers with their own local artillery support immediately after landing.
